I'm not always comfortable talking about myself or my accomplishments.
However, being a candidate for Alachua County Sheriff has put the horn in
my hand to toot every time I'm asked what makes me the best candidate
for Sheriff. Let me share with you why my unique blend of experience and
vision makes me the ideal choice for this critical role.
Public policy and legislative experience are critical in leadership. All safety
issues and funding—or lack thereof—for Alachua County and the men and
women that make up the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office are in place
because of public policy and legislation. I am a proven public policy
strategist who sees solutions where others see obstacles.
With the unique experience of having worked as Chief of Staff of a major
metropolitan county mayor where the Sheriff’s Office was under my
leadership, I am knowledgeable concerning the funding structure for staff
and operations of jails. I also have experience working with companies that
have private contracts with sheriffs’ offices. As Vice President of Public
Policy and Legislative Affairs for a chamber of commerce and Executive
Director for a tri-state economic development agency, I have successfully
worked with local, state, and federal lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to
pass legislation for positive changes and increased funding for various
initiatives.
Prioritizing programs for our youth and families has been the cornerstone of
my career. Working with our families is the first step in addressing crime by
tackling economic and educational disparities while creating partnerships to
build a skilled, reliable workforce. I will prioritize mental health support and
rehabilitation programs, ensuring that those in need receive the help they
deserve rather than being trapped in a cycle of incarceration.
Electing me as your Sheriff means choosing a leader with a comprehensive
understanding of public policy, a track record of legislative success, and a
deep commitment to community welfare. I bring a fresh perspective and a
collaborative approach to law enforcement that prioritizes prevention,
education, and rehabilitation.
Together, we can make Alachua County a safer, more just community.
I humbly ask for your vote and your support as we work towards a brighter,
more secure Alachua County for all.
